5 months

Sunday was not only Matthew's first Easter, he also turned 5 months old. In March, we had our first taste of Daylight Savings Time with Matthew that rocked our schedule for a few days. Here's a recap of the last month.

Sleep:
He sleeps 12 hours at night from 7pm to 7 am with 3 naps during the day of about 45 minutes at a time. He has taken one or two 2 hour naps and mommy is hoping that is a sign of things to come.

Clothes:
He is wearing 3-6 month clothes, size 2 diapers.

Food:
He eats four 8 ounce bottles of breast milk and 1-2 bottles of formula in the evening.

Socially:
The warmer weather has begun which allows us to take daily walks and plant flowers in the front beds. The late snow in March was fun too. During Spring Break we spent some time with the Wilson's. Mommy helped welcome a few new friends and we celebrated some of Matthew's older friends Rachel and Michael's birthdays. We've been having more play dates to interact with more with others for both mommy and Matthew. We look forward to doing more of that in April.

Developmentally:
He holds his head steady when upright, no more wobbling :-)
On his stomach, he can raise his chest supported by his arms
Focuses on objects big and small that grab his attention, like mommy's hair
His squealing makes me laugh
Reaching past his toes. He'll reach with his hands to what interests him instead of just scotting forward on his tummy.
Smiles spontaneously and he smiles back when we smile first at him.
Keeps his head level when pulled to sitting
Enjoys rolling over more, it doesn't startle him anymore
He enjoys being pulled to a standing position holding on to our fingers.
His baby talk is precious and will hold a fascinating conversation with mom or dad
Makes raspberries ALOT
Is a VERY happy spitter
'Sits' all the way forward, for a few seconds.... then rolls over to his stomach
Since he can sit supported, when we go out to eat he sits in an upright high chair. (His high chair at home has been in the reclined position) When he experiences firsts, his personality really comes out. He's a cautious little guy. It took a few minutes for him to relax in to the chair. He kept looking at us holding on tight until he felt comfortable and then we could visibly see him relax.

Matthew, We have loved the last 5 months getting to be your parents and look forward to being part of how you continue to grow and learn.
