Do Everything

This first verse is where I live. I don't get the chance often anymore to listen to the radio but I did this morning and this is the song I heard. Anyone else relate???

Steven Curtis Chapman - Do Everything Lyrics
You’re picking up toys on the living room floor
for the 15th time today
Matching up socks and sweeping up lost
Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
and head out the door
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
Well let me remind you it all matters just as long as you
Do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do
OOoh ooooh oooooh
Maybe you’re that guy with the suit and tie
Maybe your shirt says your name
You may be hooking up mergers, cooking up burgers
But at the end of the day
Little stuff big stuff in between stuff
God sees it all the same
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We’ll let me remind you it all matters just as long as you do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you
To do every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do
Well maybe you’re sitting in math class
Maybe on a mission in the Congo
Maybe you’re working at the office
Singing along with the radio
Maybe you’re dining at a five star
Or feeding orphans in Myanmar
Anywhere and everywhere you are
Whatever you do it all matters
So do what you do and don’t ever forget
to do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace as you do
Everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace with every move that you make
And every little thing that you do
Ooh oooooh
Every little thing you do

I Will Change Your Name

Sunday at church we sang this song that is near to my heart. It never fails to sting the back of my eyes with tears and block my throat with emotion. As we talked about Abram and Sarai being renamed by God because of their faith we sang, "I Will Change Your Name". That song was forever brought to life through an organization then called Royal Family Kids Camp. It's now run under the title "Our Father's Children". Their mission and goal remain the same: to minister to children who have experienced neglect and abuse. Watching these beautiful children sing this song, hearing the meaning reaching theirs hearts was over powering. It's been on my mind since Sunday. In fact, I was in the mother's nursing room when the congregation began singing it and I just froze. I've been praying and thinking about those experiences and my own with a previously abusive relationship for the last couple of days. Then, I just read this post over at I Can Teach My Child.

I will change your name
You shall no longer be called
Wounded, outcast
Lonely or afraid

I will change your name
Your new name shall be
Confidence, joyfulness
Overcoming one
Faithfulness, friend of God
One who seeks my face.

We live in a fallen world where hurtful choices are made every day. I am completely comforted fully by the love and protection of Jesus Christ in my life. I don't even want to think about where I'd be physically, emotionally or spiritually with out Christ's amazing healing in my life.

Family Update

Hi long distance family --*couch cough** sister-in-law in Idaho, who may be the only one who reads this anymore because I'm so bad about updating it-- and friends :-) Just a reminder, I am using this blog to post entries about our family in general as well as the boys growth and development. I will also pick back up on my series of  "Letters for my Sons" here as well. I am chronicling our homeschooling experience in a separate blog I created.  Shawna B, just click on the underlined purple word and the link will take you there.

Matthew and I are both learning so much through the homeschooling process. I really enjoy watching him grasp concepts and being able to stay home with both of my boys. Daniel is being his sweet self, happily eating and sleeping through his day. He is just starting small spurts of extended awake time. Billy started his new job a few weeks ago and is working on that transition.  It's been different for us at home with his varying work schedules and not as much flexibility to help out with dr's appointments. How do women with small children who don't have family close go to the dentist??? Sad to say, but I'm grateful my neighbor is temporarily unemployed so I can go tomorrow. I'm sure God will continue to provide, I just need to be less embarrassed to ask for help. We all got sick a few weeks ago, but thankfully well now. Matthew's virus of course turned in to the croup for the 5th time in his short life. Daniel had a mild case of the croup and just lots of runny nose issues. Billy and I both had mild colds. We are scheduled to take some family pictures next weekend. I'm excited to be able to update our large family picture in the living room with one that includes the whole family. The current one was taken when Matthew was about 3 months old.

Here are some glimpses in to our life with a 22 and 3 month old boys. I know it's a mommy hazard, I take  the pictures so I'm not in them.

Daniel - 3 months

9/9/11- 3 months

Bumbo time

Daniel is 3 months old today.
Just hanging out
On his exercise mat. He holds on to the side

Sleep:
He wakes up once during the night, usually around 2 am to feed. He sleeps beautifully during the day between meals. He goes about an hour and a half awake at a time now.
Bath time sucking on his hand

Daniel sleeps most of the time in his bassinet

Developmentally:
He has very good head and neck control. He has just recently started complaining about tummy time.
Daniel no longer likes his paci. His hand and fingers have now replaced it as his favorite thing to suck on and self soothe with.
Hanging with daddy

I have so much hair!

Socially:
He coos almost daily now and it's very sweet.
He constantly watches big brother if Matthew is anywhere near his line of vision.
He has let out a few very soft laughs.
He smiles very easily.

Giving great coos and smiles while
having his diaper changed

Great smiles!

Personality preferences:
When Daniel is sleepy, he wants to be put down. He does not like to be rocked by us going to sleep.
He grips pretty securely on to your finger when ever he's being held.
He is such a content - as long as he's fed and dry, happy- not bothered by noise- baby.
I can't articulate it at the moment, but he's definitely my laid back child.
Only likes being in the car if it's moving. Traffic light and stop signs are not his friends.
Doesn't like being cold ( He 'might' get that from me, hehe)

He really enjoys sleeping in the swing, but we keep it to a minimum
with the flat spot on one side of his head.

Daniel has visited his crib a few times

Upright cuteness :-)

Hanging with big brother

Food:
He nurses like a champ five times a day.
He started refusing the bottle a few weeks ago, so we nurse exclusively - not complaining.
Nice benefit to nursing,
not much spit up or burping issues
My love keeps multiplying with each new boy in my house.

Clothes:
He's been in 3 months clothes for a few weeks now. He is wearing size 1-2 Huggies diapers.
This is not a well baby visit month so no stats, just lots of fun pictures :-)
Someone MIGHT have been done having their picture taken

Keeping mommy company in the kitchen while I prepare dinner
He came down with a very minor case of the croup this month. Matthew had a worse case of it. Mommy and daddy both were under the weather as well. Sooo glad our whole house is feeling better!!
