This last month has been an adventure welcoming Daniel in to our family. We have been spending most of our time adjusting to being a family of four. Billy took two weeks off starting the day Daniel was born. Then Billy's parents came to stay with me for a week. They were wonderful helping clean up, cook and play with Matthew. After they left my niece Joan came to stay for a week. We are so thankful for both of our families with the love and support they show.
The first couple of weeks was the hardest sleep wise with maybe 3-4 hours of sleep broken up in to one hour increments. Not only was there the normal waking up to feed a newborn every 3 hours, but Matthew was also waking up multiple times a night as well.
We are doing some trial and error during the day when it's just me and the boys. We just had our first full week alone. We do better when we either have company or get out of the house at some point. We've made a few play dates and had some friends over. Since he's gaining weight easily, I've let him the last couple of days wake on his own and the relaxed schedule has been very nice for all three of us. More sleep for mommy, less videos for Matthew.
As far as Daniel's progress:
He's nursing like a champ!! We had a two hour lactation visit. We found the football hold using a shield and viola :-)
He feeds every 3-4 hours for 15 minutes on each side. From week 2 to 3 he was feeding every two hours in the evening.
He has a bit of baby acne and it's so sweet
He just started sleeping in a bassinet during the night, before this week he's been sleeping with me
He can hold his head up for a few seconds at a time with some work on tummy time.
He smacks sometimes quite loudly when he nurses, it's funny to me.
We burps easily and minimally
He likes being warm and cozy but not swaddled anymore.
He didn't' cry at all when they pricked him for his 2 week blood tests
His 1 month appt is optional and he's fine so I didn't see the need.
Next time to get weighed and measured is his 2 month check up.
He was 9 ounces over of his birth weight on his two week check up and had grown 3/4 of an inch

He worse newborn for the first two weeks in diapers and clothes.
Now he's in size 0-3 clothes and 1 in diapers.
He's a sweet cuddler who sleeps through anything including both the fun and unhappy noises of his big brother :-)
